Learning about Japanese Culture + Recruitment Party + Recruitment Party + Recruitment Party + ...

にほん の たべもの が すき です!

I already mentioned before that we get Japanese classes during work, 4 times a week, one hour each lesson... Well, we still can't speak too much Japanese, even by now, but still, we make a lot of progress. We go through all kind of grammar constructs, learn vocabularies and play Shiritori. We even (tried to) translate the lyrics from a certain Japanese song that we all (including our teacher) happen to know. It's a nice way to learn the language!

In addition to Japanese classes, some people from the company (specifically Takada-san and Yoshida-san) try to show us the best of Japanese food culture! That way, we got to taste several Japanese sweets (おかし) as well as Taiyaki, Daifuku and lots of other things. They also invited us to a very nice Sushi restaurant for lunch as well as to Izakayas after work, where we could taste all kind of Japanese dishes and drinks (Ninhonshu - also known as Sake - and all kinds of Shochu - which is quite a bit stronger). You doesn't happen too often, that you witness hospitality of this extend and we are really grateful for that!

Apart from that it happened that AIESEC Waseda had recruitment phase, which comes with lots of recruitment parties, that all EPs were invited to. There we got to talk with a lot of new and old AIESEC members from Japan and I got plenty of opportunities to demonstrate my horrible memory of names and people (Sakiko, Erina, Mafiyu, Koni ... hey, at least I remember your names now :O ). Well, despite that it was a lot of fun!

Now there, Internships in Japan are not only about food, drinking and culture. Of course we continued working on our social network game project! We finished the first prototype of our game and good some very good feedback. Thanks to the help of Ilian and Cleber, we got our work organized and got a goal set up for the next version. We worked a lot over the weeks and got many features implemented.

Since we are working on a game and games usually include a lot of graphics, the company recruited some artists to join our project! This is very exciting for me, since I always wanted to work with graphics people together on a project. :D

So that's all for this post. In the next post I'm gonna talk about more food and stuff like that... to be added soon. :O
